One of the best keyboarding games for children - Dance Mat Typing from the BBC

Dance Mat Typing is one of the top keyboarding games for children aged 7 -11 years. Don't let this fool you! "Children" of any age can definitely benefit from this excellent site.

Dance Mat Typing is features four levels, each with three stages. From the website:

"Stage 1 introduces the home row, and stages 2 - 12 will:

* Recap the previous lesson
* Introduce new letters typed with the left and right hands
* Practice all previously learned letters
* Reward the typist with a mini song and dance"

Each lesson is presented by a fun colorful animal character complete with great voices and sound effects. The lessons require the Adobe Flash plugin. They do offer a "non-flash" version of each lesson which is text only, but you are really missing out on the fun with these versions.

There is also an online scoreboard so that kids can see where they rank against others. Another great bonus feature are the handy printable worksheets for off-line learning.

Dance Mat Typing is a great free keyboarding game and is highly recommended for children of all ages.

Have fun!
